Book Review: Dumb Luck

Dumb Luck follows Micky O’Brien, who has just been released from prison and upon returning home, finds his father has been murdered and his mother kidnapped. Micky, with best friend Rezza, looks to rescue his mother from the kidnapper.

The central characters race around London and come across various unpleasant characters and come out on top, although rarely unscathed. The novel moves on at quite a pace, but the book never had me completely hooked. There were times when I was engrossed in it, but at other times I found it hard to follow, especially when the characters drink or take drugs. The ending builds tension well and comes complete with an unexpected twist.
