Hello World

Algorithms. Not the most exciting of topics. What would be far better would be having an interesting chat over a coffee or a pint. But how about combining the two? An interesting chat about algorithms over a coffee or a pint. Surely not, I hear you cry. Enter Hello World by Dr. Hannah Fry.

As it’s a book, there’s no chat over a coffee or a pint. But it is all about algorithms, is interesting and is easily accessible for anyone not familiar with algorithms and what they do. Which was me before reading Hello World. I’d heard of them, but didn’t know much beyond that. Each chapter looks at an area where algorithms are being used and the impact they are having.

The book is written in an informal style, which helps make what could be a daunting subject accessible and enjoyable. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone, even if they have no prior knowledge of algorithms.

P.S. A blog does lend itself to allowing ‘No way no way’ to be listened to.
